Job Summary:

 

The Residential Care Worker (RPW) is responsible for aiding at risk youth with unique behavioral issues.  As member of the A Promise of Hope staff your focus will be improving the physical and mental well-being of our clients. The primary role of the residential care worker is to manage day-to day living task for youth and provide/ create a positive and safe living environment for our clients. The role will also include daily communication with the site director and other members of A Promise of Hope leadership team.

  • Required to be extremely responsible and accountable for the emotional and physical well-being of our clients.

  • Must be able to manage the care of 2-8 youth between the ages of 12-17 and coordinate activities in compliance with the youth Treatment Plan. 

  • Must possess exceptional patience and the ability to handle adverse situations.

  • Experience working with at-risk youth is required.

  • Must be willing to travel.

  • Must be willing and to work mandatory overtime.

  • Weekend work is required on a limited basis.

  • Must be able to complete Pre-employment screening and a 90-day probationary period.

  • Must be able to work a shift between Monday- Sunday (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and/or weekends).

  • Required to remain at work until the next employee comes to relieve you.

  • Must have a valid Wisconsin ID.

  • Must complete TB and Physical before consideration of hiring.

  • First Aid and CPR must have or complete 1 month of hiring.

  • CBRF must have or obtain within 6 months of hiring.

 

Responsibilities:

​

  • Review treatment plans with staff and youth to ensure adherence to treatment goals.

  • Establish and maintain relationship with schools, judges, and community support agencies to ensure youth receive proper supportive services.

  • Always provide adequate supervision of youth within assigned staffing ratio.

  • Manage 2-8 residents by observing, assessing, and documenting daily logs, and incident reports for each individual youth behaviors, whereabouts (both check-in/check-out).

  • Ensure youth are maintaining personal hygiene.

  • Maintain the living center to agency and licensing standards.

  • Maintain confidentially with all written and verbal communications.

  • Administer medication as needed and follow the medication policy.

  • Complete all service trainings and meetings. Completion timeframes may vary.

  • Must be willing to cook, clean and create programming for youth.

  • Adhere to all A Promise of Hope policy and procedures.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Participation in recreational activities both indoor and outdoor.

  • Potential for physical intervention of youth.

  • Potential for exposure to blood contaminated items as a result of youth/staff accidents or injuries.

  • Ability to lift maximum of 50 Lbs.

  • Local travel as required fulfilling essential functions of the position.
